Thieves strike office, golf range - Local News - News - General - The Border Mail

ALBURY police are seeking thieves who stole two laptops and cash from Albury Telefix in Macauley Street on Tuesday night.

Insp John Pierce said the thieves had gained entry to the premises between 7pm Tuesday and 2.30am yesterday during a raid which also included a break-in at the nearby Daro Twin City premises.

Andrew Smith from Albury Telefix said it appeared the thieves were armed with jemmy bars and they had made an unsuccessful attempt to open an office safe.

“They were pretty organised. They have taken a couple of laptops with our business details, as well as the USBs with the back-ups,” Mr Smith said.

He said the thieves had also ransacked his premises, opening drawers and throwing things around.

Mr Smith said he had spent yesterday attempting to establish whether other goods owned by his customers had also been taken in the break-in.

“We have been trading as normal while getting people to fix those doors and windows which have been damaged,” he said.

Terry Nelson from Daro Twin City said it appeared nothing had been taken from his premises although a front door lock had been broken.

“It’s uncertain as to whether they actually got into the premises.”

Meanwhile, Wodonga police are hunting for thieves who may be swinging some golf clubs after a raid at the Albury-Wodonga Golf Driving Range between 7.30pm Sunday and 9.45am Tuesday.

The burglars stole a golf bag stacked with demonstration clubs and a small generator after smashing a sliding glass door at the range in Plunketts Road on the western edge of Wodonga.

“I think they were after cash and there was nothing there for them,” the range’s co-proprietor Rhonda Rogers said.

The crooks opened the doors of a slow combustion heater and microwave oven as well as pulling papers out of drawers.

“They went to every nook and cranny to where people might shove

something,” Mrs Rogers said.
